Singapore had always intrigued me with its blend of cultures, modern marvels, and lush green spaces. Finally, I had the chance to explore this dynamic city-state, and it exceeded every expectation.
Here’s a look at my unforgettable journey through Singapore.
ARRIVAL IN THE LION CITY
As soon as I landed at CHANGI AIRPORT, I could see why it’s often rated the best in the world. The airport itself like an attraction, with its stunning Jewel Changi complex featuring the mesmerizing Rain Vortex– the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. After taking in the sights, I hopped on the MRT, Singapore’s efficient and clean public transport, and headed to my hotel in the heart of the city.
Day 1: EXPLORING MARINA BAY
My first day was all about Marina Bay, the iconic centerpiece of Singapore. I started with a visit to the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark, where the panoramic views of the city skyline were breathtaking. The infinity pool was tempting, but only accessible to hotel guests, so I settled for the stunning vistas.
Next, I wandered through the futuristic Gardens by the Bay. The Super tree Grove was awe-inspiring, especially when it lit up during the evening Garden Rhapsody light show. Walking through the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, I marveled at the diverse plant life and the cloud Forests indoor waterfall.
DAY 2: CULTURAL IMMERSION
Day two was dedicated to exploring Singapore’s cultural neighborhoods. I started in Chinatown, where the vibrant streets were filled with the traditional shops, temples, and delicious food stalls. The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple was a highlight, its intricate architecture and serene atmosphere providing a glimpse into Singapore’s rich Buddhist heritage.
From there, I made my way to Little India, a bustling district full of color and life. The Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple was stunning, with its elaborate carvings and statues. I couldn’t resist trying some local Indian Cuisine, savoring a delicious Thali at a popular local eatery.

No trip to Singapore is complete without a visit to Sentosa Island. I took the cable car, enjoying the scenic ride with panoramic views of the city and sea. My first stop was Universal Studios Singapore, where I had a blast on the rides and attractions.

I explored some of Singapore’s lush green spaces. The Singapore Botanic Gardens were a tranquil escape and the National Orchid Garden within was a highlight, showcasing a stunning variety of orchids.
In the evening, I visited Clarke Quay, the heart of Singapore’s nightlife. The riverside location was perfect for an evening stroll, and the array of restaurants and bars was impressive. I enjoyed dinner at a riverside restaurant and the hopped between bars, soaking in the lively atmosphere.
Day 5: MODERN MARVELS
My final day was dedicated to experiencing Singapore’s modern attractions. I visited the ArtScience Museum, where the interactive exhibits were both educational and fun. Next, I explored Orchard Road, the city’s premiere shopping street, where I indulged in some retail therapy.
For a unique experience, I headed to the Singapore flyer, Asia’s largest giant observation wheel. The 30-minute ride offered spectacular views of the city space, especially as the sun began to set.
VEGETARIAN DELIGHTS IN SINGAPORE: A FOOD LOVER’S ADVENTURE
As a vegetarian, I was excited to explore Singapore’s diverse and vibrant food scene. Known for its rich culinary heritage, I wondered how well it would cater to a plant-based diet. To my delight, Singapore offered a plethora of delicious vegetarian options that left me craving for more.
Here’s a taste of my vegetarian culinary journey through the Lion City.
- I started my culinary adventure at Komala Vilas, a renowned vegetarian restaurant that has been serving authentic South Indian Cuisine since 1947. I ordered a traditional Thali, a platter filled with various curries, rice, chapatti, and papadum. Each dish was rich in flavor, and the variety was a perfect introduction to Singapore’s Indian Cuisine.
- I headed to Chinatown, a district known for its culinary diversity. I discovered Eight Treasures Vegetarian Restaurant, which offers a wide range of Chinese vegetarian dishes. Paired with pancakes and hoi sin sauces, it was delightful experience.
- Exploring the modern side of Singapore, I spent my day around Marina Bay; I headed to Sufood, a contemporary vegetarian restaurant in Raffles City Shopping Centre. The Star Pizza, topped with a variety of vegetables and a unique blend of sauces, was a creative and delicious dish that left me impresses.
- A visit to Singapore wouldn’t be complete without exploring its famous hawker centers. I started my day at Tiong Bahru Market, where I found Loo’s Hainanese Curry Rice, offering a vegetarian version of their popular curry rice. The dish served with a variety of vegetables and tofu, was flavorful and satisfying. I ventures to Amoy Street Food Centre, home to several vegetarian stalls. At Vegetarian Villas, I tried their Vegetarian Char Kway Teow, a stir-fried noodle dish that was smoky and savory. The generous portions and affordable prices made it a great choice for a quick and delicious meal.
- On my final day, I explored Orchard road, Singapore’s premier shopping district. I visited Joie by DOZO, a fine-dining vegetarian restaurant located at Orchard Central. Their multi-course menu featured beautifully presented dishes, including Grilled Summer Mushroom Steak and Pumpkin Veloute. Each dish was an artful blend of flavors and textures, offering a gourmet vegetarian experience.
- I made my way to Holland Village, a trendy neighborhood known for its dining options. I dined at Original Sin, Singapore’s first Mediterranean vegetarian restaurant. The Spanakopita, a Greek spinach pie, was delightful, and the Mediterranean Wrap, filled with falafel and hummus, was bursting with flavor. The warm and inviting atmosphere made it the perfect place to end my culinary journey.
